This page lists the photographs we publish under a Creative Commons licence, with the author, the licence and a link to the source for each one. Images carried over from this site's earlier platform are not listed here: their origin could not be established, and the attributions that previously claimed otherwise were withdrawn in August 2026. Diagrams credited to our editorial team are original work and carry no third-party rights.
Credited images
Each entry below names the image, its author, the licence it is published under and a link to the source, so the credit can be checked. One entry is a diagram made by our own editorial team rather than a third-party photograph.
A note on these credits. Entries for images carried over from this site's previous platform were removed in August 2026: their stated sources could not be confirmed — several linked to files that do not exist on Wikimedia Commons — so the attributions were not accurate and have been withdrawn rather than left standing. Those images are being replaced with material that needs no attribution. Only credits verified against their source are listed below.

License types explained
- CC BY
- Attribution required. You may reuse the work for any purpose, including commercial, provided you credit the photographer.
- CC BY-SA
- Attribution + ShareAlike. Same as CC BY, but any derivative work must be released under the same licence.
- CC0 / Public domain
- The photographer waived copyright. Attribution is not required, but we credit anyway because it's the right thing to do.
License version numbers (2.0, 3.0, 4.0) refer to revisions of the Creative Commons text. They differ in detail but share the same core principle: credit the maker.
Our attribution policy
Every photograph credited on this page is listed with the photographer's name (as published on Wikimedia Commons), the licence under which they released the work, and a link back to the original file on Commons. Images may be resized or re-encoded for page performance; we do not alter the content of the photograph itself.
If you are the rights holder of an image used on this site and would like to discuss the credit line, the licence, or removal, please reach out via our contact page. We respond within five business days.
